BayView Entertainment releases new horror thriller where two American families vacationing in Greece must band together to survive a silent and deadly outbreak infecting the land

POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. - EntSun -- Film Distributor BayView Entertainment announces the release of Parasites, an independent horror feature that turns the paradise of Greece into a terror of relentless proportions, leading to a thrilling race for survival against unwitting beachgoers turned bloodthirsty monsters.

Chaos unfolds when a mysterious object crashes on a quiet Greek island. Soon, a silent and deadly force begins to infect the land. As the virus spreads, two vacationing American families spring into action, determined to escape a grisly fate. In the process, their loyalty, sanity, and the strength of their bonds are tested and threatened as never before.

While providing a new spin of surviving against the odds when you're thousands of miles from home, the film deftly evokes such classics of viral monster movie mayhem like The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and 28 Days Later. The family drama of A Quiet Place and Bird Box adds to the thrills and ratchets up the tension.

The ambitious project of a world awash in turmoil came to the film's creator during a moment of tranquility.

"Parasites was born from a simple question asked while swimming in the Mediterranean: what would happen if paradise suddenly turned into a nightmare?" says A.B. Whelan, who co-directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the film. "What if the real danger wasn't in the sea, but waiting on the beach? What began as an idea between filmmaker friends from different countries became an international collaboration that united nearly eighty American, British and Greek filmmakers, cast and crew to create an ambitious independent thriller against the odds."

Collaborating with her fellow Director of Photography and producer, Jeff Adams, the duo soon assembled a team of passionate cast and crew to bring the vision of their story to life.

Fresh faces in front of the camera make a believable group of family members, infected victims, and survivors. Among the acting talent aboard are Michael King, Teneal Breitenstein, Steven Bogart, Keith Bailey, Lilah Breitenstein.

The film was produced in collaboration with Indie Filmmakers Foundation, JDAM Production House, Rogue Fish Films and executive producers, Anu Verma and Jess Peters, and directed by co-producer Sonise Lumbaca.

"50 years ago, Steven Spielberg proved terror on the beach can be a truly scary thing," says BayView Entertainment President, Peter Castro. "Of course, he proved it can be wildly entertaining as well. We're confident Parasites will excite and entertain viewers as much as it chills them."
