'The Board Is the Game': Canadian 3D Strategy Game Centrix Named TAGIE Game Innovator of the Year Finalist

TORONTO - EntSun -- Centrix, the Canadian-designed 3D strategy game where the board itself is part of the strategy, named Finalist for Game Innovator of the Year - Ages 13+ in the 2026 Toy & Game Innovation Excellence Awards (TAGIEs). Presented by People of Play, a division of The Toy Association, the TAGIE Awards honor the people and products shaping the future of the global toy and game industry. Unlike any board game before it, Centrix replaces the flat, fixed board with a seven-level pyramid of six independently rotatable rings. Every rotation changes the relationship between spaces, creates new pathways for pawns, and forces players to rethink their plans in real time. The result is a game where every move has consequences not just for the player who makes it, but for everyone at the table.

Designed by Richard MacRae and Corey Myckan, Centrix accommodates two to six players, a rarity in board games, which typically cap at four, and can be learned in minutes, making it accessible to grandparents, teenagers, and everyone in between. Games last approximately 15-25 minutes.
