The DMV Jazz Series returns to New Spire Arts with Five New Artists

FREDERICK, Md. - EntSun -- New Spire Arts and the Frederick Jazz Society (FJS) present the DMV Jazz Series at New Spire Arts in Frederick, Md. This series highlights the rich and diverse jazz talent in the region by bringing celebrated jazz musicians to Downtown Frederick for several evenings of rhythm, improvisation, and artistry.

Tickets are $22 and may be purchased online, by calling the box office, or in person. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.

The lineup includes:

• FJS Allstars performing Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
• Alex Hamburger performing Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
• Hot Club Jazz performing Thursday, Feb. 18, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.
• Peabody Conservatory Student Jazz Combo performing Thursday, Mar. 25, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.
• Naptown Brass Band performing Thursday, Apr. 15, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.

The FJS Allstars will celebrate the timeless sound inspired by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. This high-energy concert will transport audiences to the golden era of hard bop, filled with driving rhythms, soulful horn lines, and fiery solos.

Flutist, vocalist, and composer Alex Hamburger has been creating her own musical direction for a decade. Her latest album, What If?, delves into perception and the boundaries of human experience, fusing electric and acoustic sounds.

The Hot Club of Baltimore brings inspired arrangements of the Django Reinhardt repertoire, French waltzes, and traditional jazz to Frederick, performing vintage swing music with an excitement and authenticity rarely experienced by audiences.

The Peabody Institute Jazz Ensemble features students and alumni from the acclaimed Jazz Studies program at the Peabody Institute. Rooted in the rich traditions of New Orleans jazz, swing, and gospel, the ensemble creatively interprets jazz standards and original works.

The Naptown Brass Band is a New Orleans–style street band with infectious energy, improvisational prowess, and engaging stage presence. The group has a reputation as one of the hottest and hardest-hitting brass bands in Maryland.
