Battle Love and Trauma With 'Native Hearts'

PHOENIX - EntSun -- 'Native Hearts' follows Daniel Finley, a mentally-ill Native American of mixed race who endures various challenges on his journey of self-discovery.

"'Native Hearts''' is an inspired and unflinching look at mental illness as experienced in the mind of the film's main character," says Summer Hill Films President, Ted Chalmers.

'Native Hearts' is the first full-length feature film from writer-director Al Mertens. The multilayered drama explores the struggle to reconcile love versus inner trauma and also tells the stories of a female inmate, a car thief, and a prostitute.

The film stars Ben Richardson known for 'A Little Dead' (2022) and 'The Fishermen' (2019). Alongside Delno Ebie starring in 'Death Alley' (2021) and 'The Contested Plains' (2022) and Jamie Loy known for 'Endangered in the Ozarks' (2023) and 'The Cherokee Word for Water' (2013).
