PYNKTALKS: Rachel Richardson talks entertainment styling

NEW YORK - EntSun -- Find Your ID NYC (https://fyidnyc.com/) invited entertainment stylist Rachel Richardson (https://www.instagram.com/stylist.rae/), to speak at the final Sept. episode of PYNKTALKS (https://www.instagram.com/p/CFqYW6aD4YX/). Richardson had a conversation with host Rebel Jones about how she started working in the styling industry, how she manages her career and how she believes that creatives should be using their talents during this time.

The professional stylist began her career with a degree in fashion marketing and merchandising from Berklee College in New York. She continued her work through internships at Black Entertainment Television (BET) and worked with big names who jump-started her career. She has a long history in retail and has used skills gained while corporate buying to reach where she is today. She gave advice to the PYNKTALKS audience to be flexible and able to adjust quickly.

Richardson has been busy working on the Emmy-nominated show Bronx SIU, Wu-Tang's American Saga and the David Ortiz Campaign. She has recently been published in Billie Blunt's 2018 Winter issue styling the cover featuring Project Runway Designer Ralliford Hall. Her work was featured in Fever Magazine, as the creative director of an editorial displaying Top Fashion.

Jones and Richardson had a discussion about the pandemic and the current social changes and human rights advocacy occurring involving the Black Lives Matter movement. The stylist explained that she aspires to be a light and uplift others and make change by using her talents.

"It is very disheartening what's going on right now," said Richardson. "To give back by focusing on my career, and also just being focused on everything that is going on, but also continuing to be a light and continuing to be an inspiration. I think that when it comes to our culture and our race, I think that we are brilliant and powerful people and that we will continue to be great– uplift others and try your best to make change."
