LET US READ Documentary on Dyslexia and Literacy to Screen at TCL Chinese 6 in Hollywood
EntSun News/11101996
Feature documentary exploring America's reading crisis and evidence-based reading instruction screens during the Indiewood Film Festival on September 15.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - EntSun -- LET US READ, a feature documentary exploring America's reading crisis, dyslexia and evidence-based reading instruction, will screen at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as part of the Indiewood Film Festival.
The documentary is included in Block LLL in Theater 4, beginning at 10:00 AM. Five short films will screen before LET US READ.
Directed and produced by filmmaker Daniel Vital, the film examines what happens when research into how children learn to read moves from universities and research centers into classrooms and communities.
LET US READ includes filming at the UCSF Dyslexia Center and follows researchers, educators and organizations working to improve outcomes for struggling readers through evidence-based approaches to literacy instruction.

The documentary also features work involving Chartwell School, Hollister School District and Rancho Cielo Youth Campus, along with perspectives from researchers and experts at institutions including RAND and the University of Houston.
"At the center of the film is a simple question: how can what we know about the science of reading make a meaningful difference in real classrooms?" said Vital. "I wanted to show the people doing that work — researchers, teachers, students and communities — and make this conversation accessible to a much broader audience."
The subject has become increasingly relevant as schools and families across the United States reconsider how reading is taught, particularly for children with dyslexia and other struggling readers.
The Hollywood screening gives Los Angeles audiences an opportunity to see the documentary during the Indiewood Film Festival at one of the city's most recognizable cinema locations.
