NEW - She Identified as a Black Palestinian - REJECTED

WASHINGTON - EntSun -- Philadelphia teacher Hannah Gann, who is white and of Jewish descent, is being very strongly criticized for identifying as being Black and a Palestinian, and is reportedly no longer teaching.

The reason for her harsh treatment, and the unwillingness of others to accept the classifications she identifies as, was forcefully articulated by Racial Justice Philly: "Black and Palestinian identities, grief, and genocide are not identities or experiences that anyone has the right to appropriate for credibility, access, or belonging."

This is similar to what happened to Rachel Dolezal who, because she identified as Black although born to White parents, resigned from or was removed from multiple positions . .

Yet, in stark contrast, many males who identify as female have been accepte and permitted to compete against young girls and women despite strong claims that this is very unfair because of the well recognized athletic advantages males possess, numerous documented cases of serious physical injury caused to girls and women, and invasions of sexual/bodily privacy, notes public interest law professor John Banzhaf.

M2F transgender athletes seem to be the only situation where claims of identity are accepted and supported, rather than being rejected if they are clearly contrary to uncontested fact.  For example:

A young college-age athlete isn't permitted to compete in the Senior Olympics or other athletic events even if he claims to identify as elderly, to feel elderly, and/or to be less physically fit than many other athletes.

Similarly, he can't compete in events restricted to junior high school students, any more than he can play Peewee Football, regardless of how he identifies or what he believes.

A 240 pound boxer can't compete in the ring as a "lightweight" even if he identifies as being tiny and skinny, believes he weighs only 105 pounds, or is weaker than most lightweight boxers.

The confusion regarding M2F athletes results from the mistaken belief that calling or naming something as X (e.g. a trans woman) in fact makes it X (e.g. a woman).

More than 160 years ago, Abraham Lincoln exposed a trap designed to misdirect thinking - with this simple example:
QUESTION: If you call a dog's tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?
ANSWER: Four, because calling a tail a leg doesn't make it one.

So, unless we are willing to accept American-born Jews who identify as Palestinian as Palestinian, White persons who identify as Black as African Americans, young college-age athletes as senior citizens or as junior high athletes, we should not accept and support males who claim to be females simply because that's how they identify, argues Banzhaf.
