Make Room, Hollywood, There's a New Genre in Town

MOLINE, Ill. - EntSun -- It's about time film expanded its repertoire, so Aysha Ustora has taken this on and is introducing the Spiritual genre. But it's not what you may think.

"The Spiritual genre represents films that have a storyline, theme, narrative, or plot that explores the energies and forces of the universe and demystifies them in ways that are understandable," says Ustora, an Arab-American filmmaker, life coach, and entrepreneur. "It's not magical but factual. It represents the physical and spiritual world as the same place."

Alkoun Create is one of four quadrants in Ustora's newly launched company, Alkoun.org. It is a consciousness-focused production company and media platform. It specializes in film, documentary, and conceptual music videos targeting those who seek to evolve.

"This new genre focuses on the theme of life and death and the nonphysical realm. Which is what most of my films and scripts are about," says Ustora. "It's important to build upon this because as we are evolving, we are beginning to see that there is more than what we see with our eyes. We are becoming conscious of ourselves and of who we truly are."

In a way, the Spiritual genre has been around for a while. She mentions films in different genres that reflect some of the ideas. "The Endless," "The Sixth Sense," and the TV series "The OA" are similar, but true Spiritual films don't feature ghosts, entities, or forces that are scary or out of the ordinary

"We learn more about ourselves and the world all the time," continues Alkoun's Ustora. "And we now have the backup of science and physics. We are able to see the direct connection between the two. We're learning how to utilize this knowledge to transform our lives for the better and be co-creators."
