Described as "the greatest podcast you're not listening to," The Projection Booth has been going strong for 10 years as an independent podcast from Detroit, Michigan, garnering praise from entertainment industry insiders.
DETROIT - EntSun -- The Projection Booth podcasts has reached a milestone few podcasts have reached with their 500th episode. Started in March, 2011, the Projection Booth has been recognized as one of the premiere independent podcasts on film history.
Host Mike White made a name for himself in the 1990s with his self-published magazine Cashiers du Cinemart which reached global distribution via Tower Records. In 2011 he and fellow writer Justin Bozung (The Cinema of Norman Mailer) began The Projection Booth. From the first episode, the show has hosted a wide array of celebrities from both behind and in front of the camera.
In 2020 The Projection Booth has included guests like Willem Dafoe (To Live & Die in L.A.), Alex Winter (Zappa), Jeffry Combs (The Frighteners), Carl Gottlieb (Jaws), Keith Gordon (All That Jazz), Suzi Quatro (Suzi Q), Steven E. DeSouza (Commando), Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Arthur Brown (Tommy), and Scott Frank (The Queen's Gambit). The show celebrates its 500th episode by focusing on Terry Gilliam's Brazil and features an interview with Monty Python's Michael Palin.

Ranked steadily in iTune's top twenty Film History podcasts, The Projection Booth is one of the few truly independent shows on the list.
"I'm happy to have helped shed light on some films that people may otherwise not discuss often or bring new information to light about more familiar films," says White. "The first 500 have been a blast, especially as I've managed to make so many new friends with fellow cinephiles. I look forward to the next 500. You can ask me about it in another ten years."
