Save Our Sisters: AfyAfrika's founder discusses her personal journey to fight FGM

EntSun News/10947195
WASHINGTON - EntSun -- Content warning: This episode contains a discussion about female genital mutilation (FGM), gender-based violence, and domestic violence.

It is estimated that more than three million girls will be at risk of FGM this year alone. Catherine Kimaren Mootian joins The PYD Lab as not only a survivor of FGM, but as an advocate for its eradication through her organization, AfyAfrika. Catherine shares her own powerful story and how her project, Scars to Stars, is helping other survivors find their voice and feel seen.

"We need more global advocacy. We want these stories to be projected. [FGM] is a human rights violation," Catherine says.

To hear the episode in its entirety and to get more details on how you can get involved in helping to eradicate FGM, visit https://www.youthpower.org/pydlab. The PYD Lab is also available on all major podcast platforms.
