Panoramic Voices Broadcast to Feature New Compositions
EntSun News/10883427
June 3 Broadcast of Choral and Orchestral Work Premieres, Featuring atmósfera3
AUSTIN, Texas - EntSun -- Panoramic Voices announced today that there will be a virtual livestream concert titled "Darker Materials" held on Thursday, June 3 at 7pm CT. The broadcast will include new choral and orchestral works by Kitty Xiou, Mack Hoxie, Carlos Cordero and Brent Baldwin. The program will explore unexpected and atmospherically mercurial sonic territories. Each composer will be on hand to discuss their Panoramic Voices-premiered works and the inspiration behind their compositions.
atmósfera3 by Brent Baldwin: Composed in 2020 for soprano Katrina Saporsantos, electronic instruments, piano, and mixed chorus, atmósfera3 is a sonic triptych that dances between the elements of light and shade. Conceived as a lamentation for those tragically lost to COVID this past year, Baldwin interweaves gentle modal solo lines among plaintive choral textures, electronic instruments (synthesizers, prepared guitars, and electrified bicycle wheel), and plucked piano strings (performed by Benjamin Dia). The dance collective ARCOS will visually dramatize the swirling sonic elements. This will be Panoramic Voices' second collaboration with ARCOS, whose mission is "to experiment rigorously to discover adventurous new forms of contemporary performance."

Brought into Morning by Kitty Xiao is set to a poem of the same name by Australian poet and writer Jill Jones (author of Viva the Real). Brought into Morning captures moments as one lets go of one day, and welcomes the next. This piece was premiered by the Panoramic Voices Chamber Chorus on November 16, 2019.
Forgiveness by Carlos Cordero is a haunting composition about the vulnerable journey of learning to forgive and to love, yourself and others, every day. Commissioned by Panoramic Voices and premiered February 14, 2020, this is the first public viewing of this heartbreakingly tender work featuring soprano Katrina Saporsantos and the Panoramic Voices symphonic chorus.
mythos by teenage composer (and Brent Baldwin composition mentee) Mack Felix Hoxie was originally premiered September 15, 2019 for The Blanton Art Museum's SoundSpace series.
The show will be completely free to view live on the Panoramic Voices' YouTube channel, but you will have the chance to make a donation to support Panoramic Voices, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting local musicians and composers as well as other organizations that serve musicians.
