Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant "Drag Me to Brunch" Event UPDATE
EntSun News/10942404
Family-owned and operated bar and restaurant in The Woodlands Texas serves and supports the entire community of Montgomery County.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas - EntSun -- Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant is a family-owned and operated restaurant and bar located at the Waterway of The Woodlands, Texas. The owners of this fun and exciting establishment are pillars of the community, as they have lived here their entire lives and chose to raise their families in this area. They are well known in the community for donating hours of their time volunteering as coaches for youth sports, and at all the local elementary through high school events. They are an exceptional family to have in you and your children's lives.
Recently, Mahoney's owners and staff decided that it would be nice to give back to the LGBTQ community during pride week, and in doing so, they coordinated a "Drag Me to Brunch" event for June 26th, 2022. The event was a way of giving back to a segment of The Woodlands community that gives graciously to their business. "Drag me to Brunch" was not coordinated to make a political or social statement. The event was to be fun and, at the same time, celebrate Pride Month, which is held annually during June.

Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant would like to go on the record to dispel misinformation on social media. The Drag Show scheduled was by no means going to be a show similar to what was witnessed in Dallas a few weeks ago. Children were not going to be performing (as suggested on social media platforms), and there was never a "Kids Eat Free" promotion to lure children to this event. Children 18 years and younger had to be accompanied by their parents, and they would have to pay for their kids' meals. The owners and staff never intended to offend or alienate their loyal and supportive customers. After the past few days, it is essential to make this very clear, the owners and staff of Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant are all about providing a safe and inclusive restaurant for their patrons.
"Drag me to Brunch" WILL continue as planned on June 26th, 2022, as Mahoney's feels it is vital for them to give back to the LGBTQ community. People on both sides of this issue need to remember that small businesses and small business owners fuel the economy of this country, and canceling anyone for any reason should not be accepted. Constructive communication is key and the most acceptable form of resolving an issue. The use of social media to blast a small business without all the facts is not how Texans act and should not be tolerated on any level.

The owners and staff at Mahoney's heard the arguments on both sides regarding this event and felt compelled to compromise. The event will continue, but those who attend must be 18 or older regardless if accompanied by a parent. You will be asked for ID at the door. Pleasing everyone in the hospitality industry is an impossible task, and "we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but concerns have been heard and are now addressed."
The owners, who wish to remain anonymous, stated, "We feel as if we have come to a solution that will benefit all involved. We look forward to the event and a packed house on Sunday, the 26th. We want to make it clear that Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant supports ALL people of Montgomery County and surrounding areas regardless of Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation, or Political Affiliation. We have a restaurant/bar where people can come to escape all the insanity going on in this world. We do not want to be a part of adding to that insanity."
In closing, if you are 18 years and older and would like to enjoy a very talented group of performers while also celebrating pride month, on June 26th, 2022, come to "Drag Me To Brunch" at Mahoney's Texish Restaurant and Bar. 24 Waterway Ste. 100, The Woodlands Texas 77380.
