Long Running Live Comedy Mentalism Show Comes To A Close
EntSun News/10961918
After a Successful Four-Year Run, Mentalist Says It's Time To Move On
WICHITA, Kan. & TULSA, Okla. - EntSun -- Long-time professional comedy mentalist and magician Curtis Waltermire will be performing his public show "The Mastermind Show" for the last time on Saturday, November 5th at the Loony Bin Comedy Club in Wichita, KS and Saturday, November 12th in Tulsa, OK.
The show has had a remarkable four-year run. "No one's ever done anything like this here," said Ron Shively, who manages the Wichita club and is a 20-year veteran of professional stand-up comedy. "A local talent with a show that plays every month for four years? And does pretty good? Sad to see it go."
The show has also played regularly for the last few years at other Loon Bin locations in Little Rock, AR and Tulsa, OK.
Waltermire, who has been known for many years as "Curtis The Mentalist," decided a few months ago that he was going to close the show. He says that he believes that it is something that he is being called to do.

"I spent many years as a pastor and teacher in Christian ministry a long time ago. I also built a very successful construction sub-contracting business in Washington State. I've had so much experience in a lot of things outside of entertainment. While I've done magic and mentalism since I was very young, for last 10-15 years or so I've done mostly nothing but entertain people. I'm very grateful for the success I've had, but I believe God is calling me to use my skill sets for something more."
This is, no doubt, a side of Curtis that many who have gotten to know him only in recent years have never seen. When asked if he is retiring from performing altogether, he says that is definitely not the case. He's simply focusing more on the side of his business as a keynote and public speaker and presenter.
He also says that while he's enjoyed a nice long run of shows at the Loony Bins, he's closing the show to not only free up calendar dates for speaking gigs, but as a part of changing up his branding as well.

"They've been really good to me at all of the clubs, but comedy clubs in general are not an environment that really fits me best. It's not the best place to showcase what I really do."
The final show in Wichita is at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th. The final show in Tulsa is 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12th. There are no more shows scheduled in Little Rock.
