Evening to Celebrate "Women of Influence" in Atlanta Community

ATLANTA - EntSun -- The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta (ISB) is pleased to announce the honorees for the 2019 annual gala: Women of Influence.  The six honorees are women who have found ways to live their values, dreams and visions to make our community stronger and more open place to live.  The Gala will be held on Saturday evening, October 12th at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.  Sponsorship and ticket information is available on the ISB website.

Every year at the Gala celebration, the ISB recognizes leaders who do extraordinary work to make the world better.  Our honorees were selected among the many nominees because of their incredible commitment to our community.  They are tireless leaders, with dedication and deep passion to building a brighter future.  They embody the ISB's mission to create a world based on the universal human principles of mutual respect, acceptance, and peaceful coexistence through dialogue and understanding.

The Women of Influence are:

Andrea Young, Executive Director, ACLU of Georgia
Duriya Farooqui, President, Point A Center for Supply Chain Innovation
Erika Shields, Chief of Police, City of Atlanta
Houda Abadi, Founder and Executive Director, Transformative Peace
Jill Savitt, President & CEO, National Center for Civil & Human Rights
Saleemah Abdul-Ghafur, Director, African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA)

The evening will feature Rose Scott of WABE as the Mistress of Ceremonies and Decatur Mayor Patti Garrett will be the evening's Honorary Chair.  Along with the award presentations and tribute videos, the evening will include interfaith speakers and musical entertainment.

The ISB awards gala recognizes those individuals and corporations whose leadership in their professional lives is matched in every way by their leadership in the volunteer sector.  In the last several years, we celebrated the contributions of Atlanta's heroes: NBA great Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Arthur Blank, Bishop Robert C. Wright, Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, and the Honorable Sally Quillan Yates.
