Isabella Blow: Fashion icon's life to feature in new musical
EntSun News/10813906
CHELTENHAM, U.K. - EntSun -- A newly written musical titled The Girl in the Hat, follows the life of fashion sensation Isabella Blow from childhood through to her tragic passing, encompassing her glittering career along the way.
Tiny Giant Productions based in Gloucestershire have written the new musical about Blow, a magazine editor who was the muse of London milliner Phillip Treacy and is famously credited with propelling the career of fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
"For the past year we have been working on scripting and composing the musical based upon the life of Isabella Blow who lived in Gloucestershire for a large portion of her life," said Ollie Hancock of Tiny Giant Productions.
"The Girl in the Hat resonates with us all and reveals what it means to feel different in this world."
Tiny Giant Productions was formed by Ollie, a self-taught pianist and composer along with his writing partner Edward Payne.
"Our ethos is to take on the best of British musical theatre and believe that everyone in the world should be given the opportunity to excel in theatre regardless of their colour, creed, background or training," said Ollie.

"Isabella's story resonated strongly with us based on our own personal experiences and we now have a fully orchestrated musical encompassing topics everyone will be able to relate to."
A financial donation from an American benefactor has allowed Tiny Giant to professionally orchestrate the production, however as a new voice in the competitive world of musical theatre, they are still looking for support to help stage the musical professionally.
"We plan to launch a Kickstarter campaign which will coincide with a gala evening showcasing the best of our new musical."
Detmar Blow, Isabella's devoted husband of eighteen years and singer-songwriter Bryan Ferry are both on board with the project.
"Ollie and Ed have written a musical with strong themes and have captured Isabella's personality wonderfully," said Detmar.
"It is a great joy to hear the beautiful music that Issie, The Girl in the Hat inspired in them."
