Goodwill Southwest Florida Helps Residents Build AI And Digital Skills Thanks To Comcast's $20,000
EntSun News/11105185
Free, hands-on training will help people use technology with greater confidence at work and in everyday life
FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- More Southwest Florida residents will have access to the digital and AI skills needed to find jobs, navigate daily life and participate in today's economy thanks to a $20,000 grant from Comcast.
The investment will expand free technology training at Goodwill Southwest Florida's Community Resource Centers and Mobile Community Resource Center, helping participants use technology more confidently at work and in everyday life – from sending an email to searching online for a job. The grant is part of Project UP, Comcast's ongoing initiative to create digital opportunities and build a future of unlimited possibilities.
Training covers computer basics, Internet and email use, online safety and emerging technologies. Participants can build onto those skills through Goodwill's growing lineup of AI-focused courses, including Google AI Essentials and AI Prompting Essentials, which introduce learners to generative AI and its practical applications. Goodwill is also adding new learning opportunities as technology and workforce needs evolve.

"The AI Specialization Certificate, available through December 2026, along with our expanded training platform launching in early October, will give community members even more opportunities to build practical technology skills and learn how to use AI to improve productivity," said Angela Hemstreet, Director of Employment Services for Goodwill Southwest Florida. "We're excited about what these opportunities can mean for our community and grateful to Comcast for helping us expand access to this important training."
"Digital and AI skills are no longer optional. They are critical to securing a job, accessing critical services and creating new opportunities," said Jen Boyett, Director of Government Affairs for Comcast's Florida Region. "Goodwill Southwest Florida delivers trusted, hands-on training where it can make the greatest difference. We are proud to help more people gain the skills and confidence to succeed today and shape what comes next."
Beyond its AI-focused courses, Goodwill offers free workshops and community-based learning through its Community Resource Centers. During Digital Inclusion Week, the centers host activities that help participants navigate the internet, use email, access online services, create stronger passwords and stay safe online.
