Distribution Event Announced, Atheists Helping the Homeless
EntSun News/10900259
They work in the greater Washington DC area. They distribute items to people who are homeless. Their goal, as atheists, is to help their community--to give back. The distribution event will be Friday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
WASHINGTON - EntSun -- The goal of AHHDC is to provide small items (travel size) needed daily (socks, soap, nail clippers, towelettes, combs, small shampoo, toothbrush and and toothpaste, etc.) to people who are homeless and who travel primarily by foot. Their clients must carry everything they own with them, thus the distributed items are small enough to fit in pockets or backpacks. The items are for people living on the street, out of a tent or car, out of a shelter, or who may be couch surfing.
AHHDC is a group of volunteers that operates on donations. They set up a table for 3-4 hours on a sidewalk where homeless people pass by to distribute items. The last event (early September 2021) in Silver Spring, MD was able to help nearly 75 clients.

The distribution event will be on the sidewalk in front of Progress Place, 8106 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910 on Friday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In case of rain, Monday, October 11

As a relatively new group, an immediate goal of AHHDC is to achieve public awareness.
