Cass Tech Isn't Just a Song: KayeDinero's Detroit Story Started With Band, Soccer + Scholarship

The producer behind "Cass Tech" traces her path from percussion, drum major leadership and academics to 28+ instruments, software engineering and independent music.

DETROIT - EntSun -- Before KayeDinero became a producer, digital stream engineer, software professional and entrepreneur, Cass Technical High School helped establish the foundation.

Her new single "Cass Tech" is therefore more autobiography than location reference.

KayeDinero began expanding her instrumental musicianship during high school and has since learned to play more than 28 instruments. At Cass Tech, she performed as a percussionist in the marching band and later served as a drum major.

"Cass taught me that musicianship is bigger than playing notes," KayeDinero said. "It was timing, leadership, discipline, listening and learning how your individual part fits into something much larger."

More Than Music

Her Cass Tech years also included athletics and academics.

KayeDinero was a member of Cass Tech's first girls' soccer team under Coach Boboski, while simultaneously maintaining an academically demanding schedule.

She had studied French since sixth grade and continued throughout high school, became a member of the National Honor Society, and she graduated within the top 3% of Detroit high school graduates.

That performance helped carry her from Detroit to Michigan State University, where she received scholarship support through the Wade H. McCree Jr. Incentive Scholarship and Fellowship Chapel, forming a full scholarship package for her college education.

"People see the creative side now, but academics were always serious for me," KayeDinero said. "Music, technology, language, sports—none of those things felt separate. I liked learning."

From Percussion to Digital Engineering

Today, that curiosity appears across several disciplines.

KayeDinero's work spans music production, digital stream engineering, Python, software development, data pipelines, financial-market analysis and TradingView indicator development.

Google search results already surface music releases crediting KayeDinero as Direct Stream Digital Engineer, alongside her producer credits.

Her recent musical projects include Human Error, Kulture Metrics—featuring "Red Sea," "Drone Pilot" and "One World"—and now "Cass Tech."

She also works in aerial cinematography as a drone operator.

"I started with percussion, but I never stopped adding instruments, technologies or ways to create," she said. "Cass Tech is part of why that feels natural."

Back to Detroit

For KayeDinero, releasing "Cass Tech" is less about nostalgia than acknowledging where several parts of her identity first began intersecting.

"The producer, engineer, entrepreneur and technologist came later," she said. "The student and musician were already there."
