Blue Pits Housing Action completes art project to promote tenants' wellbeing during lockdown
EntSun News/10849858
A Supported Living provider has supported its tenants over the COVID lockdown by taking part in a collaborative wellbeing arts project with Cartwheel Arts, Heywood
ROCHDALE, U.K. - EntSun -- Body: Blue Pits Housing Action, a Rochdale-based housing association and support provider, has worked alongside Cartwheel Arts to support individuals to improve wellbeing and gain employability skills through art.
The project, named 'Stepping Stones', was made possible by a grant from the European Social Fund, and involved using wood and woodworking hand tools to produce unique designs and creations.
During the 10 weeks of the art project, the facilitators saw the wellbeing of tenants vastly increase, helping to offset the negative impact of Covid-19 on people's mental health.
In order to prevent the transmission of COVID19, a marquee was erected in the grounds of one of Blue Pits Housing Action's supported living projects to facilitate social distancing and provide a safe location for the arts project.

Commenting, Lynn Collins, CEO of Blue Pits Housing Action, said:
"Erecting a marquee was such a creative thing to do.
"The project was a great success and much-needed during this time of isolation and the effect of COVID restrictions on people's mental health.
"We'd like to thank all the tenants and staff that took part in Stepping Stones and who made it so much fun and so memorable!"
The project was supported by Pete Sharp, Blue Pits Housing Action Creative Lead and Cartwheel Arts Artist Alex, and Emotional Support Worker Abi.
Staff from Blue Pits Housing Action's sister company Newbarn Ltd also supported the administration and adherence to COVID-19 safety guidance.
