Comedic Sensation, Barry Brewer, acts in new film that notarizes the unsung African American heroes just in time for Black History Month
LOS ANGELES - Feb. 6, 2019 - EntSun -- Comedian and actor, Barry Brewer and Only Believe Entertainment are excited to announce that Barry Brewer is set to play the role of African American Arctic Explorer, Matthew Henson, in the upcoming Netflix film titled, Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History, scheduled to release on Friday, February 8th.

In celebration of Black History Month, Kevin Hart's Guide to Black History is a new film featured on Netflix that highlights the many and amazing deeds that African Americans have done but have not gotten the proper and well-deserved recognition for. Kevin Hart (dad) explains to his daughter (Saniyya Sidney) that in addition to the notable African American legends like Harriet Tubman and Martin Luther King, Jr., there were so many greats that helped shape American History that the average person wouldn't know about.

Take for instance, Matthew Henson, the first African American Arctic Explorer. Henson accompanied Admiral Robert Peary on seven Arctic voyages, one excursion of which includes them being the first explorers to reach the North Pole. Brewer is in character to play this unsung hero, and of course puts a funny twist to the historic journey to reaching the North Pole.
"I am beyond thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful film highlighting the untold greats," says Barry Brewer, comedian and actor. "Playing Matthew Henson's role not only made me research extensively about the character, but also had me further indulge in African American History and appreciate the underrated heroes who often go unnoticed."
In addition to Kevin Hart, comedian Barry Brewer acts beside additional comedy greats such as Lil Rel, who plays as himself and Henry 'Box' Brown, and Tiffany Haddish, who plays Mae Jemison.
Barry Brewer's credits include TV One's Who's Got Jokes and Comedy Central's Gabriel Iglesia's Presents...Plus, Brewer's newest stand-up special titled: Chicago I'm Home is set to be released on February 19, 2019 on all streaming platforms, where he is in efforts to donate $1 million to CPS Schools (including Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts and CICS Longwood Charter School). And, he will also play a recurring role in BET's newest television series titled: Games People Play.
