World Premiere of Short Film "Us & In Between" in Oscar Qualifying Competition at HollyShorts 2023
EntSun News/10995196
Official Selection at HollyShorts 2023 marks the film's festival debut.
LOS ANGELES - EntSun -- Flyer Films is proud to announce that Us & In Between, written & directed by Katia Shannon, will premiere in Oscar qualifying competition at the 19th HollyShorts Film Festival, taking place in Los Angeles, California between 10th and 20th August. Starring David Hargreaves (Last Christmas, The Flatshare) and Kika Markham (Mr Selfridge, Killing Me Softly, Two English Girls), the film will screen at the TCL Chinese Theatre on 15th August.
Us & in Between is a love story between two new lovers in their sunset years, struggling with the realities of old age and loss of independence, told in the style of a coming-of-age romcom. With wit, passion and a youthful spirit, Agnes and Eddie explore questions of sexual citizenship, intimacy and the increasing pressures being placed upon our institutions.
The film is a celebration of love and humanity in older age and is based upon Katia's own observations from growing up surrounded by her young-of-heart grandmother. "What she couldn't pursue when she was young, she did later in life. She volunteered at retirement homes with residents younger than herself, learned Latin at the age of 79 and strongly believed in the power of first love. Us & in Between is inspired by her romanticism, vitality and rebellious spirit." said Shannon.
