Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Velasquez To 486th Judicial District Court In Harris County

~ Houston, TX - Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Vanessa Velasquez as the new Judge of the 486th Judicial District Court in Harris County. This appointment is set to expire on December 31, 2026, or until her successor is duly elected and qualified.
Velasquez, a senior district court judge in the Eleventh Administrative Judicial Region, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She previously served as an assistant district attorney for the Harris County District Attorney's Office and as judge of the 183rd District Court.

In addition to her legal career, Velasquez is an active member of various professional organizations including the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Center for the Judiciary, and the Texas Association of Retired Former and Senior Judges.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Houston and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. With her extensive background and qualifications, Velasquez is well-equipped to serve as Judge for the 486th Judicial District Court in Harris County.
