Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Skillern To 217th Judicial District Court In Angelina County

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Kristi Skillern as the new Judge of the 217th Judicial District Court in Angelina County. Skillern, a resident of Lufkin, will serve a term that is set to expire on December 31, 2026.
Skillern brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as the city attorney for Lufkin and in-house counsel for State Farm Insurance. She also has experience as defense counsel for Stradley & Wright and Smith and Knott PC.
A highly qualified legal professional, Skillern is a member of several prestigious organizations including the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Houston and Dallas Bar Associations, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas District & County Attorney's Association, and the Texas Municipal League. She is also actively involved in her community as a member of Rotary International and volunteers for organizations such as the Salvation Army and First Baptist Church of Lufkin.
