SULAAH Magazine Announces Fractured Atlas Fiscal Sponsorship for Lost Files

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - EntSun -- SULAAH announces that SULAAH: Lost Files is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas. Lost Files is the fifth issue of SULAAH Magazine and an interdisciplinary editorial arts project centered on "Reclaiming What Was Lost." Through writing, photography, fashion, AI-assisted couture concepts, 3D garment development, music, video, and visual art, it explores how buried memories and deferred possibilities can become a new creative language.

The project's archival foundation began with the rediscovery of a photograph Sulaah Bien-Aime took in Martissant, Haiti, while filming Cries in the Wind after the 2010 earthquake. It became a reminder that archives are not always gone. Sometimes they are waiting to be found and given another life.

Lost Files took shape while Sulaah was creating SULAAH Magazine Issue IV: RAGE. That process surfaced difficult experiences, but it also returned her to good memories, forgotten abilities, family craftsmanship, and parts of herself buried beneath survival.

At the project's center is an old pedal sewing machine that traveled with Sulaah's family from home to home across Brooklyn. Years later, while helping prepare a Harriet Tubman costume for a school performance, she watched her uncle connect instinctively with a similar machine. His hands appeared to remember a skill that life had given him little opportunity to use.

The moment raised a larger question: How many people are carrying talents, identities, and unrealized possibilities that survival required them to put away?

Lost Files considers immigrant families, diasporic identities, and people worldwide whose abilities may go unrecognized because they lack resources, access, time, equipment, or institutional support.

As artificial intelligence transforms work and creativity, the project asks whether technology can help recover human capacities that have been overlooked, deferred, or forced underground.

"What parts of ourselves can we reclaim before they become lost files?" said Sulaah. "This project is an invitation to rediscover those parts of ourselves without being trapped by regret."

Lost Files is being developed across publishing, physical garments and textiles, original music, lyric videos, cinematic media, and potential exhibitions and immersive experiences.

Beginning with Sulaah's personal archive, the project invites people across countries and cultures to recognize what has been buried within their own lives and imagine what those recovered fragments might become.
