Ricepaper Magazine Announces Write-Rice: An Asian Writers Support Group

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - EntSun -- Ricepaper Magazine, an Asian Canadian publication of the Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop, has launched a new community initiative – "Write-Rice: An Asian Writers Support Group."

Held virtually, Write-Rice is an informal session in which a host leads a conversation aimed to improve the craft of writing. It's also a place for authors to share their publishing industry experience and to help each other become better writers.

JF Garrard, Deputy Editor of Ricepaper says, "We started this group at the request of writers who live in remote parts of Canada who wanted to connect with others in the Asian community to learn more about writing and publishing, but didn't know how. No writer is a lone island."

"This is a very important initiative to connect people, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. We want to support endeavours and programs that will make a positive impact in people's lives. Through collaborating, we can amplify our voices together," adds Allan Cho, Executive Editor of Ricepaper.

• JF Garrard, award winning author, Deputy Editor of Ricepaper, President of Dark Helix Press, Co-President of Canadian Authors Association Toronto
• Vincent Ternida, Board Member of Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop, screenwriter, filmmaker, and author. Vincent made the 2019 CBC Short Story Prize long-list with his story, Elevator Lady.
• Derwin Mak, multiple Aurora Award winning author and editor
• Cynda Yeasting, author of For Michael, Love Cynda, LiterASIAN contributor

Topics covered by our hosts include the different publishing options for writers, how to promote your own book and tips on surviving the slush pile. Write-Rice aims to support writers of Asian origin, however, all who celebrate visible diversity are also welcomed.
