Persephone Healing Arts Center Celebrates 25 Years of an Evolving Vision for Integrative and Anthroposophic Medicine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - EntSun -- Persephone Healing Arts Center, founded by Dr. A. Schaeffer-Pautz, MD, is marking 25 years of an evolving medical practice grounded in a simple and enduring vision: to see and treat the whole human being, not simply a diagnosis.

What began as a vision for an Anthroposophic medical clinic in Northeast Florida has evolved over a quarter century into a practice shaped by three interwoven strands: Integrative Medicine, Anthroposophic Medicine, and the Walsh Protocol.

"These are not three separate approaches for me," Dr. Pautz explains. "They are woven together in how I understand and work with each patient."

The practice brings conventional medical knowledge together with individualized approaches that may include nutritional and biochemical assessment, Anthroposophic and herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, rhythmical applications, therapeutic Eurythmy, art therapy, hands-on therapies, and counseling informed by a person's biography. School medicine is also an important part of her practice.

The work of Dr. William Walsh, PhD, has become an important part of this evolution. Dr. Pautz first heard Dr. Walsh present his research on different biotypes of depression in 2017 and later encountered his work again during her integrative neurology training.

"What opened up for me was the recognition of biochemical individuality," Dr. Pautz says. "People with the same diagnosis or similar symptoms may have very different underlying biochemical patterns and may therefore respond differently to treatment."

One long-term patient with severe rheumatoid arthritis illustrates how these different strands can come together. Her care has included biochemical assessment and nutritional interventions, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, hands-on therapies, and the deeper counseling and biographical work of Anthroposophic Medicine.

In her case, a copper level twice the normal range was identified. Addressing this biochemical imbalance as part of a broader individualized approach was followed by normalization of inflammatory parameters that had not been normal in decades. Over time, there was also visible reduction in physical deformities and remarkable restoration of physical function. She is currently moving without pain and has recently been able to climb the steps at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles without assistance.

Her experience illustrates an important principle of the practice: chronic illness may require lifelong attention, but individualized tools can change how a person lives with and responds to illness and, in some cases, can change the trajectory of a life.

After 25 years, Persephone Healing Arts Center continues to evolve while remaining grounded in the belief that medicine begins with the unique individual human being, not simply a diagnosis.
