"Paintings in Perspective" by Casey Wakefield to Open at Royse Contemporary
EntSun News/11103557
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - EntSun -- Royse Contemporary is delighted to present Paintings in Perspective, a solo exhibition by Casey Wakefield. This new collection explores the intricate relationship between perception and experience, inviting viewers to consider how the act of seeing shapes—and is shaped by—our understanding of the world around us. Wakefield explains that "it is how the lens through which we see the world shapes and what we ultimately see. Two people can stand before the same image, landscape, or moment and experience something entirely different, influenced by memory, emotion, history, and expectation."
Through layered color, atmosphere, and intuitive mark-making, Wakefield's abstract paintings invite viewers to slow down, look again, and consider their own perspective. Rather than offering a single interpretation, the work creates space for individual experience along with reminding us that seeing is not simply about what is before us, but also about what we bring to it. "I paint to discover what I'm thinking, to give form to what words cannot. Through layers of color and texture, I create a space where spontaneity and contemplation converge, inviting viewers to uncover their own reflections within the work," states Wakefield.

Casey Wakefield creates abstract paintings inspired by the essence of the creative process and the emotions, memories, and thoughts that emerge through the interplay of texture, color, and material. His paintings become spaces for quiet reflection, inviting viewers to pause and turn inward. Through layered surfaces, nuanced color, and tactile materiality, Wakefield explores silence as a sanctuary within an increasingly fast-paced and noisy world. Her work invites viewers to slow down, linger, and experience a sense of presence.
Working intuitively, building each painting through gestural marks, layered color, and mixed media along with charcoal, graphite, collage, acrylic, and oil. The artist embraces both intention and chance, allowing each mark, drip, and passage of color to unfold naturally. Through this process, emotion, memory, and atmosphere become embedded within the surface.
"Paintings in Perspective" will be on display from October 29 through November 29, 2026. We will host a special reception for the artist on Thursday, October 29, coinciding with the Scottsdale ArtWalk from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Join us as we celebrate the artist and her new collection of work. Come meet the artist and enjoy an incredible evening of art, shopping, wine, hor d'oeuvres and more.
