Overnight mill and overlay pavement maintenance scheduled for various Columbia streets, July 20-22

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Public Works department has announced that starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 20, overnight pavement maintenance will be conducted on several streets in the city. This project will be carried out by Capital Paving, the contractor for the department.
According to officials, the work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on July 20-22 until all listed streets have been completed. The maintenance is expected to begin on streets outside of the downtown area before moving downtown.
The following streets are included in the list of those scheduled for maintenance:
- Nebraska Avenue from North Seventh Street to North Providence Road
- Big Bear Boulevard from Providence Road to the east end of the street

- Sixth Street from Ash Street to Elm Street

To ensure smooth execution of the project, temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance on streets where parking is permitted. It is advised not to park in these areas during the dates and times listed on the signs.
During the maintenance work, temporary lane closures will also be necessary. Motorists are advised to follow traffic control signs and flaggers who will guide them through work zones as needed. Pedestrians are also urged to exercise caution and consider alternate routes whenever possible.
The project is weather-dependent and subject to change. For updates on this project, residents can follow Columbia Missouri Public Works on social media platforms.
