OTTAWA - May 14, 2019 - EntSun -- UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL MAY 24
Hip hop/R&B artist and songwriter Steph Marcantonio, a.k.a. queenyy, and distinguished First Nations Cree producer/choreographer Chev Cheechoo, a.k.a. chevdot, fuse their distinct musical styles and perspectives with their project queenyy x chevdot. They may be new in the Canadian music landscape, but they're far from being rookies. Lifetimes of working with beats, dance, and songwriting is the common thread that attaches them both. The two are set to release their new single "Pretty Young Thing" on May 24, which will be followed by a music video on May 29th.
"Pretty Young Thing" is a song that captures the spirit of old-school heavy groove R&B while containing rhythmic elements that are very much rooted in modern day hip hop. Influences for the track include Missy Elliot, Timbaland, and Aaliyah, and the video takes on a mysterious yet colourful feel.
