Opera Naples Announces Outstanding Performances To Come In April

NAPLES, Fla. - March 14, 2019 - EntSun -- Naples' premiere opera company, Opera Naples, has three exceptional performances scheduled in April, and the public is invited to attend for free an Opera Naples Academy masterclass with legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes.
Opera Naples Academy Concert
April 9, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.
Wang Opera Center
Opera Naples Academy is a 10-day intensive for exceptional opera singers who audition from around the world to work with legendary artists in the field of opera in private voice coaching, workshops, and master classes. Esteemed faculty members include Sherrill Milnes, Manny Perez, Verónica Villarroel, and Ramón Tebar. The program runs from March 31st to April 9th and culminates in a public concert in which all participants perform. The Academy's spring session concert offers the Naples community a rare glimpse of the international opera stars of the future!
Ticket prices: $20, $34, $48, $59.
Free Public Master Class with Sherrill Milnes
April 4th, 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Wang Opera Center
Sherrill Milnes is universally acclaimed as the foremost operatic baritone of his generation. A leading artist in all the world's great opera houses, Milnes sang over 650 performances at New York's Metropolitan Opera. Now retired from performing, he continues to teach masterclasses, judge competitions, and nurture the next generation of opera stars.
This masterclass is part of Opera Naples Academy and is the only masterclass that is open to the public. You will witness legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes working with the opera stars of the future!
This is a free event. No tickets required. Seating is first come, first served.

Roberto Díaz, viola, (Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series)

Wang Opera Center
The Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series presents the preeminent violist in the world today, president and CEO of Philadelphia's famed Curtis Institute, Roberto Díaz. A violist of international reputation, he is former principal viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra, of the National Symphony under Mstislav Rostropovich, a member of the Boston Symphony under Seiji Ozawa, and a member of the Minnesota Orchestra under Sir Neville Marriner. Mr. Díaz plays the ex-Primrose Amati viola.
Pianist Tao Lin will be performing with Roberto Díaz, and the program will include music by Manuel De Falla, Johannes Brahms, and Paul Hindemith

Georges Bizet's sultry opera, Carmen
April 24 and 25, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.
Artis-Naples Hayes Hall
The season will conclude with Georges Bizet's Carmen (sung in French with English supertitles). Set in southern Spain, Carmen presents a love triangle with the zesty temptress gypsy girl, Carmen, at the center between a love-struck soldier who descends into jealousy and desperation, and a handsome bullfighter. Everyone will recognize the famous "Habanera" and "Toreador's Song." Maestro Ramón Tebar will conduct an outstanding international cast in this fully staged opera accompanied by the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra.
