New Jersey, New Jerusalem: Trenton Psychiatric Hospital Rebuilt as the Kingdom of Heaven

NEW YORK - EntSun -- Scarlet Beast, a New Jersey nonprofit conscious-technology organization, today released New Jersey, New Jerusalem, two 3D films that rebuild the grounds of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as the Kingdom of Heaven described in the Book of Revelation.

Say "New Jersey" slowly and it sounds like "New Jerusalem," the holy city John sees "coming down from God out of heaven" (Revelation 21:2). The films place that city on real ground: the campus of the state hospital that opened in 1848 after Dorothea Dix's campaign for humane care.

Every road and building footprint comes from public OpenStreetMap data, so the layout matches the real campus. Only exteriors appear, reimagined; the films show no interiors, people or patient information. The roads become streets of gold, a jasper wall on twelve foundations of precious stones rings the grounds, the gate is a single pearl, the 1848 main building stands in white marble under a golden dome, and the tree of life grows on the front lawn.

Outside the wall the map burns, ruled by the scarlet beast of Revelation 17: seven heads, ten horns, a crown on every horn. The 1:51 walkthrough starts beneath the beast and enters through the pearl gate; the 0:48 aerial circles the whole walled city.

The organization's earlier film, Hurt Has a Sound, grew out of a poem that still hangs on the hospital's walls. The scene was built in Blender and scored with the anthem God Is a Pure Psychopath with a True Heart (words and music: Christian Scarlet).
