New Interview Series Spotlight New York's Thriving Film and TV Industry
EntSun News/10810013
NEW YORK - EntSun -- New York, NY – As the Empire State has evolved to become a center of the global film and TV industry, trailing only California, a new podcast series, "Beyond the Set New York," has launched to spotlight the more than a quarter million jobs and the diverse cast of businesses that make up the industry.
"Beyond the Set New York," launched in January 2020 for the New York Production Alliance (NYPA), introduces listeners to a wide cast of players across New York's film and television industry, who share their stories of filming, shooting, casting and working behind the scenes supporting productions throughout New York.
NYPA was founded in 1998 to advocate and promote the film and television industry and expand opportunities for job creation. It helps promote New York State as the best option for filming movies, television, and commercial advertising projects.

The first episode of Beyond the Set New York goes in depth with film editor David Tedeschi, a longtime collaborator with Martin Scorsese, who worked with the Academy Award-winning director on projects such as "George Harrison: Living in the Material World," and more recently "Vinyl" on HBO. Other projects include: "The Shield", "The Osbournes", and "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story."
The second features Rochester and Finger Lakes Region Film Commissioner Nora Brown, who has served in that capacity since 2008, and who is also the Artistic Director of the High Fall Film Festival.
"We are excited to continue bringing attention to all of the many diverse people involved in helping make New York a leading option for a lion's share of film and television projects across the U.S," said Flo Mitchell-Brown, Chair of New York Production Alliance.

"There are countless stories to be told about the hard-working New Yorkers, from Buffalo to Binghamton and Montauk to Manhattan who power this vital industry, from logistics and transportation, to food service to set design, or location scouting. The film and TV industry supports hundreds of thousands of vital, high-quality jobs."
In 2003, NYPA was among the lead advocacy groups to help secure a new state film and television tax credit, which last year directly resulted in 254,400 new hires and $4.8 billion in new spending statewide. In total, over 200 productions applied for the film tax credit in 2019.
Beyond the Set New York has already booked a diverse portfolio of producers, set designers, studio owners and state and municipal film commissioners for future episodes.
