New Horror Film from BayView Entertainment Dares Viewers to 'Invite the Devil to Come and Play'

Psychological chiller features acclaimed performance by late actor-musician Carlton Williams as a songwriter who inadvertently becomes a "pied piper" for Satan.

POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. - EntSun -- Film Distributor BayView Entertainment announces the release of the new horror film, Invite the Devil to Come Out and Play, now available for sale or rent from finer streaming services.

In the film, experimental musician Oliver struggles for recognition between his duties at home and at work. Spending more and more time on his strange music, he seems to have discovered an unexpected listener... one who may have a devilish motive!

The movie was filmed entirely in Columbia, South Carolina. It is the passion project of three hometown friends: writer Charles Brown, director and composer L L Gaddy III, and producer/sound engineer J. Tyler McGee.

Starring as Oliver is Carlton Williams, who passed in 2024. A graduate of The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, his roles include background work in The Twilight series of films, and a featured role in the 2017 film, Ninth Inning, which he also scored.

"I met Carlton during his audition," says director L L Gaddy. "He had this honest, understated awareness to all his art that perfectly suited his role in the film. His anxieties and Oliver's were the same. What is the point of making art if no one is listening or watching? I know Carlton struggled with these doubts. When he passed shortly after we completed post-production, those demons came for me as well."

Perhaps inevitably if ironically, the very demons both Gaddy and Wilson dealt with while creating their art informs and infuses the themes of Invite the Devil to Come and Play.

"In the film, Oliver finally finds his audience—a pretty powerful, invigorating one, but maybe the pursuit of them isn't so good for his life and his relationships," continues Gaddy. "There's a horror to this mode of creativity. This film is a testament to that tension."

Early reviews highlight the freshness of the film's approach to fighting demons… figuratively and literally.

"Genuinely quite scary… a number of times made me jump… stayed in my mind far longer than any other demon themed horror film in recent memory." – Luke Barnes, Another Millennial Reviewer

"Just when you think there's nowhere left to go within the slasher genre writ large, Invite The Devil to Come and Play reminds us that with a clever tweak or two, there's still something to say within the genre." – Summer Forbes, Film Threat

"The idea of someone's talent being used against them and everyone around them struck us as truly horrifying," says Peter Castro, President of BayView Entertainment. "In a time when unusual concepts in horror are being embraced by audiences, this one feels unique."
