Mayfield Wins Statewide Honor as KayeDinero Turns 150+ Family Acres Into "MayField"

MAYFIELD, Ky. - EntSun -- Mayfield, Kentucky is receiving statewide recognition.

For KayeDinero, the city represents something much older.

Days after Mayfield was named the 2026 City Government of the Year by the Kentucky League of Cities, the Detroit-raised, Asheville-based artist is releasing "MayField," an instrumental rooted in her father's side of the family and generations of history in Graves County.

At the center of the song is her late grandfather, H.G.E. Sr., whom KayeDinero remembers as a role model whose spiritual guidance continues to influence her.

"MayField isn't just a city name to me," KayeDinero said. "My grandfather, my father and generations before them are connected to that ground."

A FAMILY REUNION THAT STARTED IN 1965

Family records show that H.G.E. Sr. began the gathering that evolved into the family's annual reunion after the former Dunbar High School reunions ended in 1965. The tradition continued across generations. Wandas-Notes

In July 2025, the family brought the reunion back to Mayfield, returning the tradition to where it began.

"That was bigger than a family trip," KayeDinero said. "We were bringing something back home."

MORE THAN 150 ACRES OF FAMILY HISTORY

According to KayeDinero's family history, her great-grandfather R.L.E. owned and operated more than 150 acres of family land, including property used for agriculture.

Family notes describe the original property as 160 acres, with portions later passed to relatives. They also identify Brush Creek, Potts Road and Coltharp Road as core family territory stretching back more than 140 years. Wandas-Notes

"Knowing my family worked that much land changes how I hear the word Mayfield," she said. "It's land, faith, work, family and legacy."

NOW THE HISTORY HAS A SOUNDTRACK

"MayField" continues KayeDinero's growing musical map alongside "Detroit WestSide," "Cherokee," "Appalachia," "French Broad" and "Hendersonville."

But this release reaches further backward.

"Some of my songs document where I've gone," KayeDinero said. "MayField documents where part of me comes from."
