U Manage Us by Jeanne Myrick Opens the Business Side of Sports to Middle and High School Students

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - EntSun -- KLM Enterprise Services LLC and CEO La'Nardo Myrick Sr. announce uManage, a sports team management platform created by Jeanne Myrick, a student at The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri. Designed for students in grades 7 through 12, uManage was created around a simple idea: sports should not be viewed only through the eyes of the athlete. For students who cannot or do not participate competitively because of physical limitations, disability, injury or other circumstances — as well as students whose interests are simply more business-oriented — sports can still offer an enormous world of opportunity.

The athlete may be the person fans see, but an entire infrastructure makes athletics possible. That infrastructure is also big business. The World Economic Forum estimates the global sports economy at approximately $2.3 trillion annually, encompassing professional and participatory sports, sporting goods, sports tourism and related industries such as broadcasting, technology and services. Jeanne's vision for uManage is to begin introducing that world before college.

At a school such as Pembroke Hill, students can already see the infrastructure required to operate athletics. The school offers 23 upper-school varsity sports and 12 middle-school sports, while facilities include gyms, fields, tennis courts, weight and cardio rooms, locker rooms and athletic department offices. The same concept becomes dramatically larger at the collegiate level. At the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mizzou Athletics reported that athletics generated more than $600 million in statewide economic impact during 2025, supporting thousands of jobs and generating spending connected with visitors, hotels, restaurants, transportation, retail and other businesses. Mizzou also reported a record $182 million in athletics revenue in its most recent fiscal year.

Those numbers illustrate an important lesson Jeanne wants younger students to understand: sports does not begin and end with playing the game. There are careers in athletic administration, team operations, facility management, sports marketing, event production, communications, sponsorship, finance, compliance, technology, media and athlete services.
