Hundreds to Lace Up Their Shoes & Stretch Their Muscles During the Virtual Run Walk Ride for Lupus!

CHICAGO - EntSun -- WHO: Lupus survivors, their families, friends, and hundreds of supporters of people living with lupus.

Representatives from the Lupus Society of Illinois (LSI), the Midwest's leading non-profit health organization dedicated to supporting lupus patients today while working to find the causes and cure for lupus.

WHAT:  Run, Walk or Ride during the month of May!  Pick any activity you like and use that to raise funds and awareness for lupus!  Registered participants will receive an official event t-shirt, a fundraising page, and access to great contests and prizes!

Registered participants will also be eligible to attend the Illinois Lupus Walk in Naperville on August 14, 2021, (if the event is possible due to COVID-19 restrictions).

Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that causes inflammation, tissue damage and can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body).  Lupus is difficult to diagnose and there is no cure for this often-disabling disease.

Participants receive an official Illinois Lupus Run Walk Ride t-shirt, fundraising page, and the knowledge they do well post-event snack, and more! Adult registration is $25 and $10 for children 12 and under. Participants can walk as individuals or as part of a team.

WHEN: May 1-31, 2021.  You decide when!

WHERE: You decide where! Run, walk or ride anywhere you choose for as long as you like!

The Lupus Society of Illinois' mission is to promote lupus awareness and complement the work of health care professionals by providing personalized resources for the lupus community while supporting research. LSI serves the entire state of Illinois by offering programs and services designed to meet the needs of the lupus community.

Every day, an estimated 1.5 million Americans struggle with the often debilitating and disabling health effects of lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and tissue damage to virtually every organ system in the body.

Lupus can be fatal, is difficult to diagnose, has no cure and few treatments are available. Ninety percent of people with lupus are women and minorities are two to three times more likely to acquire the disease, however; anyone at any age can get the disease.
