Governor Abbott Launches Texas Classroom Commission

The Commission's recommendations will be presented to Governor Abbott, the Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Legislature before the 90th Legislative Session begins. The Commission will be led by Courtney Boswell MacDonald, a former classroom teacher and current chair of the State Board for Educator Certification. MacDonald brings a wealth of experience in education policy, having previously worked on the Senate Education Committee and served as executive director for various education reform organizations. She is also a former math teacher at Richardson ISD and Dallas ISD.

The Commission will consist of both current and retired public school classroom teachers. They will begin their work in the coming weeks and deliver their recommendations before the start of the 90th Legislative Session. With educators at the forefront, Governor Abbott's Texas Classroom Commission aims to make significant strides in improving public education in Texas.
