Governor Abbott Appoints Five To One-Call Board Of Texas

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments and reappointments to the One-Call Board of Texas. The board, which oversees the "Call Before You Dig" system, plays a crucial role in preventing accidents by notifying underground facility operators of excavation plans.

Among the reappointments are John Mason, Marcela Navarette, and Keith Wall. Mason, who hails from Dallas, is currently serving as assistant vice president - senior legal counsel at AT&T. He is also actively involved in pro bono work through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program and volunteers with AT&T Believes. Mason holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from The University of Texas (UT) at Austin and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary's School of Law.

Navarette, who retired after 30 years at El Paso Water Utilities, has been reappointed to the board as well. During her time at the company, she held various positions including vice president of Strategic, Financial, and Management Services. She also serves as a board member for the El Paso Community Foundation. Navarette received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from UT El Paso.

Keith Wall from Spring has also been reappointed to the board. He currently serves as director of regulatory affairs for CenterPoint Energy and is an active member of various organizations such as the Texas Gas Association and American Gas Association. Wall holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Joining these reappointments is Michael Holdman from Robinson who has been newly appointed to the board by Governor Abbott. Holdman works as a branch manager with ASCO Equipment and attended Angelo State University.

Another new addition to the board is Michael McCloskey from Liberty Hill. McCloskey is the owner of Chisholm Trail Productions, an event and television development company. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from UT Austin.

All of these appointments and reappointments are for terms set to expire on August 31, with the exception of McCloskey whose term will expire in 2027. With their diverse backgrounds and expertise, these individuals are sure to make valuable contributions to the One-Call Board of Texas in ensuring the safety of underground facilities.
