Explosive New Book Warns Fate of the Nation Rides on 2026 Midterms
EntSun News/11105509
LOS ANGELES - EntSun -- In his new book, The Midterms: The Battle for the Soul of America (Middle Passage Press), political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson places a new focus on the impact and importance of the congressional midterm elections. He provides a revealing, in-depth examination of why the midterm elections for Congress as well as tens of thousands of state and local offices are so important to both parties.
Hutchinson notes Trump's worry about their importance, "I'm going to be impeached." He minced no words in expressing his worry that if the GOP lost control of the House in the November 2026 midterms that he would be impeached—again. Hutchinson notes that Trump sounded the alarm bell about the midterms for a very troubling reason.
Given the long and mostly disastrous history of midterm performance for the president's party, the odds were better than good that the following would happen. The president's party would lose one, or both wings of Congress. At best, his party would suffer some losses. In every midterm election since World War II, the scorecard on losses for the president's party has been nothing short of astounding.

In The Midterms: The Battle for the Soul of America, Hutchinson assesses issues such as the chronic low turnout of voters, especially Black and Hispanic voters, and young voters, and the resultant deepening political polarization. He details why the GOP has had phenomenal success in mobilizing and energizing its voters for the midterms. He tells why the midterms during much of their history have flown far under the media and public's radar. He examines the reasons why the president's party has generally done so poorly in the midterms. Most importantly, he tells why the Trump and the GOP pulled out all stops and ploys to hold congressional power in the midterm elections.
