Dreams of Villains: EP by St. Mauricio

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - EntSun -- The upcoming Dreams of Villains EP by St. Mauricio is a four-track journey through the mind of a hero's inner dark side, from the first pangs of villainy to the moment he finally loses his grip on reality and becomes a full-blown villain. The EP tells the story of a man who wakes up one morning with a bad feeling in his gut, but he can't quite figure out why. He's not sick. He's perfectly healthy, but he can't shake the feeling that something has consumed him.

The collection explores the human experience through the lens of one man's troubled subconscious & haunts you like the nightmares you can't shake. His music is a mix of dreamy and dark, chaotic and emotional, and uplifting and tragic. It's the kind of music that makes you both smile and cry. The upcoming Dreams of Villains EP has been in the works for years, with the first song being released in 2021.

The four-song EP is scheduled for release on October 28, 2022 and will be available for streaming and download on all major platforms. Dreams of Villains will be St. Mauricio's first release as a solo artist after spending the last two years as a guitar teacher at Sunshine Academy in Brooklyn, NY. For the past three years, St. Mauricio has been recording, writing and performing music in New York City.

St. Mauricio is the stage name of American musician & songwriter Mauricio Kandundu of Angolan decent, with an evident preference for dark themes. With the guitar as his main instrument, the lyrics explore concepts like death and misery in a melancholic tone, but with a lot of brightness in the melodies and catchy refrains.

The release is a conceptual work, striving to reflect the inner struggle between good and evil, and how we are all somehow affected by it. The music varies between rock, soul, pop and electronic moods, with a wide range of influences: from indie to mainstream music to create an eclectic sonic experience.

The EP features four original tracks that create a unique listening experience that invites your own interpretation. St. Mauricio has been recognized for his cinematic sound and arrangements.
