EntSun News/11099065
Free celebration pairs live music, food trucks, and family-friendly sustainability activities with savings on reclaimed building materials in Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. - EntSun -- Nonprofit Resource Central is inviting the community to stop by for a conservation celebration and to shop sustainably on Saturday, August 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Materials Reuse facility, 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder.
Part of Resource Central's free Rock & Reuse summer concert series, this special savings event gives Coloradans a chance to save on reclaimed appliances, tools, furniture, cabinets, and tile while keeping usable materials out of the landfill. Attendees can also connect with local eco-friendly organizations, enjoy live music and food trucks, and take part in family-friendly activities throughout the day.
When gates open at 9:00 a.m., the public is welcome to explore the Materials Reuse facility's collection of reclaimed goods, great for landscaping, decorating, and home improvement projects. Community members can sign up for the Materials Alert newsletter to learn about upcoming conservation events, featured finds, and weekly specials..

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Rock & Reuse activities will include live music from The Dollhouse Thieves, food from Rat's Woodshack BBQ, gear repairs and information from Boulder Sports Recycler, clean-energy activities from ChargeBug, and live glassblowing and art from local artists Brian Cofran and Jacqueline McKinny. Families can also check out Resource Central's flatbed truck and forklift during a children's touch-a-truck experience from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
"Each Rock & Reuse event is an opportunity to welcome the community and show what conservation and reuse can look like in everyday life," said Neal Lurie, President & CEO. "On August 8, we're going big on keeping quality building materials out of the landfill while helping community members save money on home improvement projects."
Through community donations, Resource Central has diverted more than 74 million pounds of reusable building materials from Colorado landfills through its Materials Reuse program, offering appliances, tools, furniture, cabinets, tile, lumber, and landscaping materials at about one-third of retail cost. The August 8 event is timed to offer homeowners and gardeners inspiration and affordable supplies for late-summer landscape and home improvement projects.
Rock & Reuse is part of Resource Central's 50th anniversary celebration, marking five decades of helping the community conserve water, reduce waste, and live more sustainably.
