Boys & Girls Club of Collier County seeks 500 summer camp sponsors
EntSun News/10873865
NAPLES, Fla. - EntSun -- The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is looking for sponsors for its 2021 summer camp program. Through the "Sponsor a Camper" initiative, supporters can make a single, tax-deductible donation of $500 to ensure a family will not have to pay the full cost of summer camp programming.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has prolonged students' time outside of the classroom, there is an acute need for educational enrichment and healthy social interaction. The Boys & Girls Club's summer camp program provides a safe and supportive environment for school-aged children to learn, play and discover their passions. Programming is also aimed at mitigating the "summer slide," a term referencing the loss of academic knowledge and skills that occurs when students are out of the classroom. Studies show that low-income children lose more than two months of reading achievement every summer while school is not in session.
"The pandemic has deprived many students of the classroom time and peer-to-peer interaction that are so critical to their academic and social development," said Megan McCarthy Beauvais, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County. "Now more than ever, we need our community partners to step up and invest in the futures of these talented students."

Camp programming includes academic enrichment, STEM, physical fitness and creative arts activities. Each week the club is offering an engaging theme like Harry Potter, Superheroes vs. Villains and Going Green. This will be coupled with fun themed days where campers can wear their favorite sports jersey, pajama days and dress as your favorite career day. A nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack are provided daily for every camper.
The "Sponsor a Camper" initiative is not limited to the single $500 donation. Individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations can sponsor multiple youth. The Club hopes to sponsor 500 campers this summer. For more information, please visit BGCCC.com (http://www.bgccc.com/) or call 239-325-1700.
