TAMPA, Fla. - EntSun -- Most consumers choose where to shop based on price, convenience, selection or service. But Senior Vet Discounts is asking Americans to consider another question:

Would you choose a business because it supports Veterans and Seniors?

Vietnam Veteran and author Bruce Goldwell believes many people would.

Senior Vet Discounts was created to help Veterans and Seniors discover potential discounts before they pay. But the idea has grown beyond simply finding discounts.

The platform also gives Veterans, Seniors, their families and everyday consumers a way to discover businesses that choose to support these communities.

"You don't have to be a Veteran or Senior to support a business that supports them," Goldwell said. "If two businesses offer what I need and one makes a point of supporting Veterans and Seniors, that matters to me. I believe it will matter to other people too."

The concept creates a simple cycle:

Businesses support Veterans and Seniors. Veterans and Seniors potentially save money. Consumers support the businesses supporting them.

Senior Vet Discounts provides information about retail discount programs while reminding shoppers that eligibility, exclusions and policies can vary. Consumers are encouraged to verify current offers before making a purchase.

The project's message is straightforward: Find. Show. Save.

But Goldwell sees another word becoming increasingly important: support.

Senior Vet Discounts is building a network in which participating businesses can make their support for Veterans and Seniors visible. Members can also refer restaurants, retailers, attractions and service businesses to the program.

The goal isn't to tell consumers where they must shop. It's to give them another piece of information when deciding where they want to spend their money.

"If a business is willing to support the people who served our country and the Seniors who helped build our communities, I want people to know about that business," Goldwell said.
