Virus Quarantines Will Unleash Entrepreneurial Zeal, Says Best-Selling Author, Dr. Gary S. Goodman

An ambitious teen, he devised a rare coin brokerage. Starting from scratch, he memorized his pals' collections. Then he became a go-between, keeping for himself the "excess" coins that each transaction spun-off.

One peeved parent, who knew nothing about coin values, beefed him to his dad, who summarily shuttered the start-up.

"That put me in financial lockup until I turned 17, by then a college freshman," Goodman remembers.

"Within a year I found a great sales job that swiftly promoted me into sales management, while I was taking up to 18 units per semester, on campus."

There are other examples of having limits imposed on his pay, which made him seethe, and then boil over with frothy ambitions.

This dynamic is nothing new to immigrants from impoverished or oppressed nations, he says.

Massively, we're facing a similar frustration now, many of us ordered to remain at home because of the virus.

"An upside is our pent-up desire to contribute, to give value and to get value. This will make us unusually productive when we are unleashed, providing we come through this threat, intact."
