Rock Duo Snowflakes Performed Their Anthem "Ukraine Will Prevail" At the Stand With Ukraine Rally Marking The Two Year Anniversary Of The Illegal Invasion Of Ukraine
LOS ANGELES - EntSun -- On the two year anniversary. of the illegal invasion of Ukraine a well attended and enthusiastic rally was held on the steps of Los Angeles City Hall on Feb 24, 2024. Alongside dignitaries, politicians and organizers delivering speeches was the band Snowflakes performing their driving, rock anthem "Ukraine Will Prevail."
The event was put on by the non-profit Stand With Ukraine. Not only do they bring attention to the situation and help provide aid, they encourage political action in the USA to ensure aid of all types flows to Ukraine to fight the illegal invasion. Snowflakes is the husband and wife duo of Martin Blasick and Ukrainian born bassist Natasha Blasick. Their usual lyrics are inspirational or environmental or touching on UFOlogy. But the war against Ukraine found creating them an anthemic rally song. Natasha says, "We must rise up against this tyranny however we can. As artists we have our voice. So, that's what we'll use."
Primarily known for her acting Natasha has played many roles in film and television. "What I like about Snowflakes is it's our own project where we can do or say whatever we want. We write the script when in comes to our music."
Natasha's parents were displaced by the war and currently reside with Martin and Natasha. It is unclear if or when they would ever feel safe to return to their former life in Odesa.
Martin says, "I didn't think this war would really happen. Now there's no end in sight until Ukraine, with the help of the west, vanquishes the invaders from their land. Until that happens democracy across the world is in peril." He also points out that in case anyone is wondering the name of the band has nothing to do with politics. They named themselves Snowflakes before it became a pejorative.
