The Vancouver Police Museum & Archives Re-Opens with Enhanced Health and Safety Protocols
EntSun News/10837958
In addition to enhanced safety, social distancing and hygiene measures, the museum has added new programs, events and QR-code access for online exhibit content
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - EntSun -- The Vancouver Police Museum & Archives re-opened in early June with new measures and exhibit extensions to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff in light of COVID-19. These measures have created a fun and educational experience for visitors while ensuring their safety remains paramount during the new phases of BC's go-forward strategy. In line with these measures, they now have a Friends & Family Forensics program geared towards small "bubbles" of family and friends. The museum's popular Morgue Ghost Tours will be back in October with new safety measures in place, while Movies in the Morgue has returned with socially distanced screenings and private group bookings.

With a 'safety-first' mandate, the museum recommends visitors purchase tickets online to minimize in-person contact. They also ask that visitors who are not well or who are displaying any symptoms of illness to stay home. Those who arrive and display symptoms will be asked to return at a later date when they are feeling better.
Other regulations include the following:
• Limiting the number of people in the building to a max of 50
• Limiting the number of people allowed in each room
• New one-way directional signs throughout the museum to maximize social distancing
• Plexiglass barriers
• Hand sanitizer stations
• Touch displays and interactive components have been replaced with digital content accessible through QR codes
• New cleaning and sanitizing routines
• Contact tracing and a mandatory mask policy for all visitors and staff
"We are proud of the safety enhancements we've made to the museum in light of COVID-19," said Museum Director, Diane Panozzo. "With a safety-first approach, we created measures that adhere to the federal, provincial and municipal health guidelines while also ensuring visitors still have an educational and interactive museum experience focused on the history of our incredible city and the development of its justice and policing initiatives. We don't take re-opening lightly and want everyone to know that we care deeply about staff and visitor health and safety."
