Tacoma: Application for 2027 Community Arts Projects Funding Now Available

~ The City of Tacoma is now accepting applications for Community Arts Projects funding, providing an opportunity for eligible organizations and groups to receive financial support for publicly accessible arts programming in 2027. The funding, which ranges from $4,000 to $6,000, can be used for a variety of arts-focused projects such as presentations, workshops, festivals, and performances that are open to the general public.
Interested applicants must submit their proposals online by October 26, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The projects must take place in Tacoma and be completed between January 1 and December 31, 2027. Eligibility is open to private non-profit corporations with a 501(c) designation, organized groups with a specific mission or purpose, for-profit businesses or educational institutions producing non-profit projects, and tribes or Native non-profit organizations.
To be considered eligible, applicants must have offices or conduct a majority of their activities within Tacoma city limits. Additionally, the artistic or cultural components of the project must be created, performed, or made by humans. Detailed guidelines for eligibility terms and requirements can be found on the City of Tacoma's website.

Funding for Community Arts Projects is determined through a competitive application process and is subject to approval by the City Council as part of the official budget. The number of projects funded will depend on the availability of funds and how well each application meets the evaluation criteria outlined in the guidelines. Priority will be given to applicants who meet one or more of the funding priorities listed in the guidelines. This year also introduces a new priority focused on applicants who have not previously received funding through Tacoma Creates.

This is an opportunity for applicants to have their questions answered and gain a better understanding of the requirements and expectations for their proposals.
