Summer Hill Acquires 'Working Man' for International Release
EntSun News/10890227
Just in time for the Cannes Film Market starting July 6th, Summer Hill Entertainment, an international sales and licensing company, has announced the acquisition of international rights to the intriguing drama, 'Working Man.'
PHOENIX - EntSun -- When the last factory in a small Rust Belt town closes its doors, an unlikely hero emerges. A career employee of the factory, the aging Allery Parkes can't reconcile how to live a life simply sitting at home doing nothing, and against the pleas of his loving wife, Iola, he forms an unlikely friendship with his charismatic neighbor, Walter Brewer, in order to revive the defunct factory.
'Working Man' is produced by Maya Emelle, Lovell Holder, Robert Jury and Clark Peterson. Peterson is known for a wide array of award-winning films and television shows. His most recent productions include 'Ideal Home' starring Paul Rudd, 'Rampart' starring Woody Harrison, and the Academy Award-winning 'Monster' starring Charlize Theron.

Jury also wrote and directed the film. He has written feature film screenplays for the companies HBO Films and Twentieth Century Fox, and has worked in feature film development with companies Warner Bros and Touchstone Pictures. Jury's 'Working Man' is his directorial debut and first produced screenplay.
The film stars Peter Gerety as Allery Parkes, a worker thrown off by the dismissal of his position at a factory. Gerety is known for 'Charlie Wilson's War', 'Flight', 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop', and 'Public Enemies'.
Alongside Gerety is Billy Brown as Walter Brewer, an unlikely friend in the midst of Allery's dismissal. Brown is known for his role as Detective Nate Lahey in the hit TV show 'How to Get Away With Murder', as well as the feature films 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' and 'Star Trek' (2009).
Allery's wife Iola Parkes is played by Talia Shire, known for her work in 'The Godfather' series and 'Rocky'.
Working Man is a moving story, coming to terms with life before and after the loss of work.

"'Working Man' is a novelty, a movie that truly grasps the feeling of being without purpose. When people are left behind from the changes of our economy, this movie displays a way to find meaning in a constantly changing world." says Summer Hill Films President, Ted Chalmers.
"My greatest hope for 'Working Man' is to create a curiosity, a dialogue, and a meaningful connection with folks – regardless of personal beliefs or alliances. Loss, grief, recovery, and love are universal." says Robert Jury.
Summer Hill's acquisition of 'Working Man' will be available at this year's Cannes Market to international buyers for TV, VOD and DVD release.
