RC Deidrich and Tremain Hayhoe discuss dreams, rejection, and overcoming it all
LOS ANGELES - EntSun -- On this week's episode of You're All Set, "Lights, Camera, Connections", RC Diedrich speaks with film director and producer Tremain Hayhoe. On "Lights, Camera, Connections", Deidrich and Hayhoe discuss how to make it in Hollywood without connections, why you must always keep working, and when you know it is time to move on. "I enjoyed my conversation with Tremain," says Diedrich. "I've found that regardless of our occupations, a lot of us struggle with the same issues and it was interesting to see that perspective through the lens of film making."
Hayhoe began his foray into the entertainment industry as an intern with KPBS, San Diego's public television station. However, that remarkable achievement on his resume did not result in him being admitted into the film program when he applied for university. Undeterred, Hayhoe recounts how he moved to Los Angeles, couch surfed, began making music videos, and, ultimately, directed and produced his first feature film.

"It's not who you know, it's who you get to know," stresses Hayhoe. He advises anyone looking to break into the entertainment industry that they must not play the passive role by sticking to the edict that you must know someone to become a success. "It's all about going out and meeting people," Hayhoe adds emphatically. Hayhoe further states that there are plenty of people who are willing to work; it's just a matter of collaborating with the right team.
One piece of advice Hayhoe and Diedrich discuss is the concept of failure. As Hayhoe sees it, "Once you know what you do want to do, you're…not wasting your time…anymore. Education never stops, but you have to keep going, keep finishing, and keep working towards your next goal or project."
