President Biden Issues Posthumous Pardon for Marcus Garvey
EntSun News/11048231
DALLAS - EntSun -- President Joe Biden has granted a posthumous pardon to Marcus Mosiah
Garvey, the iconic civil rights leader and global advocate for Black empowerment, overturning his
1923 conviction for mail fraud. This momentous decision follows decades of advocacy and
underscores the enduring importance of addressing historical injustices.
As a civil rights attorney and advocate for justice, I am deeply honored to have played a role in this
historic outcome. Alongside a coalition of passionate advocates, historians, and legal experts, I had
the privilege of assembling and delivering a compelling case to President Biden, highlighting the
unjust nature of Mr. Garvey's conviction and the monumental impact of his contributions to civil
rights and global unity.
Mr. Garvey's legacy as the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and
the Black Star Line remains a cornerstone of the global movement for self-determination and

empowerment. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once described him as "the first man of color in the
history of the United States to lead and develop a mass movement."
"This posthumous pardon is not only a recognition of the injustice Marcus Garvey endured but also
a celebration of the transformative impact of his work," said Justin Moore, Esq. "To have delivered
this petition directly to President Biden, knowing the historical significance of this moment, is a
humbling and deeply meaningful honor."
As a civil rights attorney and advocate, I remain committed to continuing the fight for justice and
the preservation of legacies like Mr. Garvey's that have inspired generations. This pardon serves as
a reminder of the power of advocacy and the importance of honoring the contributions of those who
paved the way for progress.
